The Costs of Tenancy Failure 2011
In an update to the original SCSH Briefing from 2007, 'Tenancy Failure: How much does it cost?', SCSH has just published revised costings for 2011.
In revisiting this piece of work, SCSH finds that;
• Tenancy failure places large direct costs on Local Authorities.
• Costs related to tenancy failure have increased in the last four years.
• Support has previously been shown to reduce tenancy failure.
• The cost to support those in their tenancies is less than bearing the costs for each failed tenancy.
A copy of the revised briefing is available from the Briefings page.
As well as providing an overview of the costs of tenancy failure, SCSH have also created a 'DIY Costs of Tenancy Failure Tool' to assist you to work out your own calculations for your own context. This is also available through the briefings page.
